Krista and Derek recently got engaged and planned a trip out to Colorado to celebrate. They wanted epic mountain engagement photos and chose Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder, Colorado for their engagement session. It was a rainy weekend and we were not sure the session would go ahead. As they were visiting from out of state and only in town for one weekend we decided to use the rain and stormy weather to make their engagement photos even more epic.
Weather in Colorado can be so unpredictable and I have to admit I was not sure what the fog and rain would do for Krista and Dereks engagement photos. Lost Gulch Overlook did not disappoint! The fog added a romantic element that I have never experienced up at Lost Gulch Overlook.
Krista + Derek chose blue and neutral colors to compliment the green backdrop at Lost Gulch Overlook. By the end of the session they were both totally drenched but they did not mind.
Engagement sessions are intimate, fun and capture the unique love of each couple. Having Lost Gulch to ourselves meant we could try different creative ideas that I had been wanting to shoot for awhile. The overlook was moody and misty and I loved just having them sit and take it all in. They got more and more adventurous as the session went on.
Lost Gulch Overlook is one of my favorite spots in Boulder Colorado especially for an engagement session. When looking for a wedding photographer, make sure you find one that can photograph in lots of different weather conditions. Not every golden hour session will have that perfect golden hour light. I got to push myself creatively and the contrast of this moody + misty engagement session to other sessions I have captured at this location is wonderfully different!
